New display has become an important driving force for the development of smart home

According to IDC's statistics, 47.78 million units were shipped in China's smart home equipment market in the first quarter of 2022, up 1.7 percent year-on-year. Display is the main interactive means of smart home, but also an important driving force for its development, with the further popularization of 5G communication, ultra-high-definition video, artificial intelligence, meta-universe and other new technologies, display as one of the important windows of human-computer interaction and receiving information, the application direction is more diversified.

Geng Juncheng, vice president of Beijing Jichuang North Technology Co., Ltd., mentioned four development trends of LED display screens in his speech: the dot spacing is getting smaller and smaller, Mini LED has been mass-produced, and Micro LED products have been put on the market; The cost of the display screen has dropped, driving the rapid growth of the market scale. Emerging application scenarios continue to appear, gradually expanding from professional applications to office, advertising, entertainment and other commercial display fields, and has the trend to the civilian market; homogenization is serious, and the market seeks differentiated products. In the future, the new application experience of LED display will be better from the aspects of driver chip design, high refresh rate, high PP, high brightness and high contrast.

In recent years, the core competitiveness of my country's new display industry has continued to increase. Data from Luotu Technology statistics show that in the first half of 2022, Chinese mainland panel manufacturers ranked the world with a market share of 67%, continuing to hit new highs. According to Omdia's data, BOE, Visino, TCL Huaxing Optoelectronics, Tianma and others are expected to account for 20.4 percent of the OLED market in the second quarter of 2022. Compared with 2019, OLED market share has more than doubled.

Ouyang Zhongcan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Strategic Development Committee of the Institute of Theoretical Physics, pointed out in his speech that China began to explore and develop the display industry at the end of the 20th century. After more than 20 years of "introduction, digestion, absorption, and independent innovation", it has become a global LCD industry. The development of China's display industry is divided into three stages. The first stage is the exploration stage, which is the stage of strategic layout and technology accumulation. Two is the digestion, absorption stage, to achieve a breakthrough. The third is the leading stage, which is the stage of independent innovation and global leadership.

Ouyang Zhongcan said that China has realized a number of global first-class products/prototypes in the direction of MLED, AR, VR, light field display, QLED and other emerging display technologies, providing more differentiated solutions for the display terminal market and creating new application scenarios.

In recent years, artificial intelligence technology has received the focus of attention from all walks of life around the world, and has developed rapidly. For the field of smart home, artificial intelligence technology is indispensable, just like the "brain" of smart home. All smart home devices are connected to realize the interconnection of everything, making it more convenient, fast and easy for people to use.

Meng Qinghu, academician of the Canadian Academy of engineering and director of the Department of electronic and electrical engineering of Southern University of science and technology, said: "VR/AR and other new display technologies will be truly integrated with artificial intelligence technology in the future. With the improvement of MLED technology and robot perception and enabling technology, it will have a significant impact on smart medical, smart home, smart city and other fields in the future. Regarding how smart homes will develop in the next ten years, Zhong Wenkui, vice president of Konka Group's multimedia industry headquarters and general manager of the R & D center, summed up three characteristics: First, the ubiquitous display, whether it is the display device on the TV, washing machine, or refrigerator, Can interact in the first time. The second is active perception of AI, and the future is active perception. The third is the ecology of the interconnection of everything, and all equipment will be a part of the ecology. "In the future, with the continuous development of intelligent display technology, the visual control and demand of smart home will be more intense. People will use more interesting and convenient methods to operate home devices, and the use experience of smart home will be more immersive and natural." Zhong Wenkui believes that AR interface control and AI digital person intelligent housekeeper are important technologies for the future development of smart home.
